UCM alumni engagement comes in many forms:
- speaking to classes of students
- participating in the annual PRSSA-hosted PR Pro Day
- serving as class clients
- serving as student mentors
- providing internship opportunities
- providing agency and venue site tours
- serving as guest bloggers
- serving as program professional advisory members
- giving generously to the UCM PR Program and the UCM PR Scholarship funds.
The UCM PR program is grateful to its terrific alumni base. They make possible continued the program’s provision “the global standard for excellence in public relations education” (2014, PRSA conferred CEPR).

Envision a long-time program advocate, repeat PR Pro Day participant, multi-internship provider, repeat class client, previous development board member, and new professional advisory board (PAB) member and you get alumnus extraordinaire Shawn Arni (1986). As Medical Children’s Mercy Kansas City Director of Communications & Marketing, Arni is a standout Kansas City public relations professional.
