Season of Giving

It is that time of year again. Yep, finals week is over and another semester is in the books! We are also right in the middle of the holiday season. So as we end another great semester of engagement and learning at the UCM PR Program, our thoughts are also turning to ending the year and the season of giving.

We’re doing some really good work in our second academic year in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies and our first year as part of the Marketing and Public Relations Department. Our students continue to excel and are finding new and innovative ways to learn about media relations, social media and design. And:

  • Our PRSSA chapter is growing and active, they’ve been on the road to both Kansas City and St. Louis this semester interacting with professionals and making connections.
  • We launched the second program-specific scholarship titled the PR Learning to a Higher Degree.
  • Our Innovative PR student-led agency won another PRISM award in competition with professionals in the Greater KC PRISM Awards.
  • We had a super time with our alumni at the program’s first PRConnect event in October, even awarding the first PR Hall of Fame award to alumna Paula Derks!

We’d like to do more. But we could really use your help. Please consider a monetary gift to the PR Program Foundation in this season of giving, we will be very grateful. We would use the funds wisely to help us educate our future PR colleagues.

Here’s how you can help. You can donate online by visiting ucmfoundation.org, Once you are on that page, click on the “Make a Gift” button in the upper right, and then on “Find a Fund” at the left side of the page. From there you can enter:

Fund description: Public Relations

Fund College: Harmon Business and Professional Studies

Fund Department: Marketing & Public Relations.

From there, choose one of these funds: UCM Public Relations Program Fund (for student development, etc.) or UCM Public Relations Scholarships.

Or, send in a check and note the PR Program Foundation. Or, call the Foundation at 660-543-8000.

Sorry, it may not be really easy, but it will for sure be valued and used wisely.

If you have any questions, please be sure to get in touch with anyone from the faculty or comment below. Happy holidays and thanks in advance for thinking of your program!
