At the UCM PR Program, we’re big believers in our faculty spending time out in the field, “doing” professional PR work. This week Dr. Adam Horn is camped out at the media center at the Daytona International Speedway in his role as a public relations rep for several racing organizations. He’s taking lots of photos and we’ll chronicle his trip here and on Twitter, so check us out @ucmprprogram. Bringing this kind of experience back into the classroom is invaluable to our students as we strive for truly Learning To A Greater Degree.
Getting used to travel is a big first step for the PR Pro, here’s a shot from Atlanta on the way to Daytona, always busy.
My office for the next three days at the World Center of Racing.
Credentials, check. On to the Media Center.
What a view from the office!

One of the biggest parts of my job on a race weekend is managing client relationships. In this case, my client is ZF Motorsports, who TUDOR United SportsCar Series partner.
None of my clients have a press conference scheduled this weekend- unless we win. However, there is a full slate of manufacturers, sponsors and teams hosting press conferences over the next three days.
All of this weekend’s press conferences happen right here.
